Increase player limit minecraft

why is the player limit 8? I try to search how to increase it and found out that it’s the default limit and I have to increase it in server.properties but I can’t find it anywhere. how do I increase it?

That would be part of your server.properties file located within the root directory for the server your running leaving a screenshot below. But the issue is unrelated to playit.
