Foundry connection issue

Hello! I’m running a game on Foundry VTT, using playit as a hosting server. All my players can connect just fine, except for one who keeps getting disconnected OR desynchronized, so he’s technically in the game, but chat messages like character dialogue or dice rolls, as well as visuals like the map we’re using to represent various things, are frozen and don’t change while they change for all the other players. I’m wondering what this might be the result of… he lives in the UK, but so does another player. The fact that he can connect at all suggests this isn’t a firewall problem. If memory serves, I believe he has virgin media (which uses VDSL) for service provider. I’m really struggling to troubleshoot this, and it sucks because I’d love for him to be able to participate. If anyone could offer guidance on how to fix or effectively troubleshoot this issue, I’d be grateful. There’s no issues with his connection otherwise, we hear him just fine in Discord, etc, so I don’t think it’s a general internet problem.

If looks like your TCP tunnel is on the free network (legacy), it’s very possible your friend in the UK is getting routed really poorly. You can have them visit https://ping.playit.gg to see which datacenter they routed to on the free network.

The free network is “Global Anycast”.

The only way to resolve that would be to get Playit Premium and create a regional tunnel to lock your client traffic to North America or Europe. With Premium you could also create a HTTP/HTTPs tunnel which would provide more region options.

I don’t know if I have the same situation, but one of my players has huge delays, maps sometimes flickering, and issues moving her token. In this instance we identified that most of the issues were due to an aging computer and these were partially solved when I added the potato or not foundry module, which actually let’s the player set the Foundry parameters with one click.

But as Patrick mentionned, it could also be the routing.

Love the name and style of that add-on.
